OHIO PLAYERS – SKIN TIGHT

Released in April of 1974, Skin Tight was the fifth album by Dayton, Ohio natives The Ohio Players and the first of three consecutive albums by the band to be certified platinum. It also marked the group’s debut for Mercury Records, introducing a new era of their unmistakable mix of funk, soul, and irresistible groove.

The album includes the celebrated track “Heaven Must Be Like This,” later notably covered by D’Angelo for the Down in the Delta film soundtrack. The title track “Skin Tight” also became a fan favorite and was famously performed live by R.E.M. during their Green tour in 1989. Upon release, Skin Tight climbed to #1 on Billboard’s Top Soul LP chart and reached #11 on Billboard’s Top LPs chart, cementing the Ohio Players’ place among the defining funk bands of the 1970s.

This special reissue is presented as a 140-gram virgin vinyl gatefold edition, including the original cover and back cover artwork.
