KIC BARROC / ENTOR
- Contemporary jazz album inspired by the landscapes of the Pyrenees
- Eight original compositions exploring lyricism, improvisation, and collective interplay
- 180g vinyl edition recorded at Underpool Studios, Barcelona
Description
Entor is the second album by Andorran pianist and composer Kic Barroc, an evocative collection of eight original compositions deeply inspired by the natural landscapes of the Pyrenees. Mountains, lakes, and high-altitude horizons provide the emotional and conceptual backdrop for a record that engages with the jazz tradition while embracing a contemporary and personal musical language.
Following his debut album Mon noM (2022), Barroc presents a more mature and cohesive artistic voice. The music on Entor unfolds as a narrative journey where lyrical passages and rhythmic energy coexist within carefully crafted compositions, allowing improvisation to emerge naturally within a strong structural framework.
Recorded at Underpool Studios in Barcelona, the album highlights the deep musical interaction between the ensemble members. Rather than functioning as a simple collection of pieces, Entor reveals itself as a unified sonic experience shaped by dialogue, texture, and a shared musical sensitivity.
For this project, Barroc brings together an outstanding group of musicians from the European jazz scene: saxophonists Baptiste Herbin and Irene Reig, trombonist Alba Pujals, bassist Brady Lynch, and drummer Kike Pérez. Their collective sound blends modern jazz vocabulary with expressive melodic writing, creating a record that is both exploratory and rooted in tradition.
