Elemental Records and Universal Music (UMG) present the first LP reissue in nearly 40 years of the original soundtrack to the iconic 1972 film Cabaret, directed by Bob Fosse and starring Liza Minnelli and British actor Michael York. The soundtrack was directed by Ralph Burns, who would go on to win the Academy Award for music supervisor. The film was even more successful than the theatrical show from which it originated, and the soundtrack LP went gold, outselling its original Broadway cast counterpart. It contains some definitive performances by Minnelli, notably his versions of the title song and, in duet with Joel Grey, the satirically salacious “Money, Money.”
