Elemental Music proudly presents the most successful album of acclaimed and recently deceased Philadelphia singer Billy Paul: 360 Degrees of Billy Paul. Produced by Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff and arranged by Bobby Martin, Lenny Pakula and Norman Harris, this fantastic album was released in 1972 and includes the Grammy Award-winning number 1 pop and soul single “Me and Mrs. Jones” and its follow-up “Am I Black Enough for You?” which reached number 29 on the soul chart and number 79 on the pop chart. This was the first Billy Paul’s album for Philadelphia International and it was straight club jazz. Some of the songs of the album reflect the “message soul” that was popular in the early 70’s, namely “Brown Baby”, “I’m Just a Prisoner” & “Am I Black Enough for You.” In this masterpiece Billy Paul demonstrates that he is more than a singer; he’s an amazing interpretor. He uses his voice like Miles Davis used a trumpet. His vocal sounds just seem to flow out of him. He turns a simple ballad like Elton John’s “Your Song” into a soulful, breath-taking, uptempo masterpiece. This is an amazing album from an artist who should have been as big as any R&B superstar of the 70’s.
