27 Nov Kenny Drew – Home Is Where the Soul Is – Xanadu Master Edition CD
Super Jazz Piano Virtuoso Kenny Drew’s first record in the USA in twenty years after moving to Europe during the 1960’s. Leroy Vinnegar and Frank Butler complete this Powerhouse Trio Recording! Kenny Drew’s insouciant, humorous, imaginative treatment of everything else on Home Is Where the Soul Is, completely justifies Schlitten’s determination to illuminate his artistry in this spontaneous, familial context. Here, as on the preponderance of the Xanadu catalog, Schlitten’s instincts were spot-on. The selections here include Nat Adderley’s “Work Song”, Duke Ellington’s “Prelude to a Kiss”, Jimmy Van Heusen’s “It Could Happen to You”, and four originals, three written by Kenny for this session and one by a composer colleague.
