ROY AYERS UBIQUITY – HE’S COMING

Roy Ayers’ iconic album He’s Coming presents the jazz-funk-soul vibraphone master at the top of his game. Inspired by the Broadway musical Jesus Christ Superstar—including a cover of one of its songs—this spiritual and socially conscious LP features a powerful lineup including saxophonist Sonny Fortune, bassist Ron Carter, and drummer Billy Cobham, alongside Ayers’ core Ubiquity band.

Among the highlights are the funk anthem “He’s a Superstar” (sampled by Ghostface Killah), the atmospheric “We Live in Brooklyn, Baby” (sampled by Kendrick Lamar and Mos Def), and the classic “Ain’t Got Time” (sampled by J Dilla for Black Star’s “Little Brother”). A defining album that bridges spiritual jazz, soul, and hip-hop legacy.

Side One:

1. He’s a Superstar
2. He Ain’t Heavy He’s My Brother
3. Ain’t Got Time
4. I Don’t Know How to Love Him

Side Two:

1. He’s Coming
2. We Live in Brooklyn Baby
3. Sweet Butterfly of Love
4. Sweet Tears
5. Fire Weaver

*A spiritual soul-jazz masterpiece that bridges eras and genres — essential for fans of Gil Scott-Heron, Donald Byrd, and Dilla-era hip-hop.

"Visionary, funky, and endlessly influential."
