Mini-LP Papersleeve CD Replica

This sensational Elemental Music release presents the long unavailable and highly underrated masterpiece Other People’s Rooms by The Mark-Almond Band. The Mark-Almond Band was formed in 1971 by British musicians John Mark (vocals, guitar) and Johnny Almond (saxes, flute), who were both members of John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers during 1969-1970. Other People’s Rooms climbed to #32 on Billboard’s album chart when it first appeared in 1978. On this magnificent Tommy Li Puma production, Mark & Almond joined forces with top American session players, such as Steve Gadd (d), Will Lee (b), John Tropea (g), and Leon Pendarvis (key). Other People’s Rooms is one of the last opus of the duet, yet one of the best, thanks also to producer Tommy Li Puma, the underrated Californian studio wizard. A subtle nostalgia goes though most of the tunes, from a new version of the classic “The City” to “Vivaldi’s Song” of Michael Franks fame (a Li Puma connection). “You Look Just Like a Girl Again”, and the title song “Other People’s Rooms” are some of the finest representatives of the last 70’s jazz-rock and pop fusion. This delectable reissue is an elegant, soft, and sensual combination of adult-oriented Pop & Jazz.
