Elemental Music Presents Two Newly Discovered Historical Recordings By Dexter Gordon & Woody Shaw

Elemental Music presents a complete previously unissued quartet performance by the great Dexter Gordon. This fascinating concert finds Gordon at the Subway jazz club in Köln, Germany, on September 11, 1973, playing along Irv Rochlin on piano, Henk Haverhoek on bass, and Tony Inzalaco on drums. The CD edition contains a 16-page booklet with rare photographs, and special essays by famed jazz producer Michael Cuscuna and by Dexter s widow, Maxine Gordon. The set also includes four bonus tracks, also previously unreleased, consisting of 1965 and 1971 performances by Gordon respectively in Stuttgart and Den Haag. The LP Gatefold edition contains rare photographs and special essays by famed jazz producer Michael Cuscuna and by Dexter´s widow, Maxine Gordon. Recorded live at the Subway Club, Koln, Germany, on September 11, 1973.

 

 

Celebrating The 75Th Anniversary of the Life And Legacy of Woody Shaw,  Elemental Music presents, both on CD and LP, a complete previously unissued quintet performance by the great Woody Shaw recorded live at the Foyer Stadttheater, in Basel, Switzerland, on January 16, 1980. This outstanding concert features Shaw in the company of saxophonist Carter Jefferson, pianist Larry Willis, bassist Stafford James, and drummer Victor Lewis. The LP gatefold edition includes rare photographs and special essays by famed jazz producer Michael Cuscuna and by Shaw’s son Woody Shaw III.
